3 MISTAKE YOU COULD BE MAKING IN MEETING YOUR GOALS

  1. Writing goals and tucking them away
It is very common to spend time deciding what you want in a specific year, only to tuck those goals away and never revisit them. These types of goals are really called “resolutions” and resolutions usually are not continued after February. In fact, only 8% of those who make resolutions actually keep them.
  2. Not re-organizing goals into action items
Even if you keep your resolutions, resolutions are very different from goals. Goals need to be organized into daily action items, meaning that you have to make sure you are doing something today that’s going to help you reach your goals of the future.
  3. Not scheduling your goals on your calendar
It is so common to get caught up in the everyday and busyness of life. Often times, we get so caught up that we end up producing nothing. Prioritization is key, if you are not prioritizing your to-do’s, you may be completing things that are low on the list. A great example is cleaning the house. Although cleaning the house is important, we all know it’s going to get messy the next day. So where is it on our priority list? If it is high on the list, we may never get anything done that is on our goal list, like writing a book, starting a business, losing those extra pounds, meeting someone new, getting that promotion. So make sure your priorities are focused on what you really want.
